The last three or four Premier league seasons has been closely contested but this season is looking like a dead rubber for Manchester City already. With just 11 games played, Manchester City are already eight points ahead of their closest rival Manchester United and Tottenham who are tied on 23 points – City on 31 points. This season’s premier league race is beginning to look like unless City have a real serious collapse, like the one Arsenal had in 2008, they are most certainly going to win the title. Football betting offers favour the citizens to win the title this season and rightly so. They are currently priced at latest Premier League betting has them at 1/6 favourites by most bookmakers.
To be fair to the citizens, they have been fantastic this season. So far they have scored 38 goals and conceded just seven. That’s an average of more than 3 goals per match scored. Aside scoring goals for fun, they also have a solid defence as they are joint 2nd best defence in the Premier league so far with only just seven goals conceded. Most of the other teams that were expected to give City a run for the title have all struggled. Chelsea are beginning to look like the team that won the league last season but not until they have had some rough patches. Arsenal have been as usual not up to standard so also has been Liverpool. Tottenham and Manchester United have done well but have both lost points where they were not expected to.
Manchester City have only dropped two points so far and that was to Everton. Ever since, they have got their acts together. Their incredible record have led to some people wondering if the current City team is the team to match Arsenal’s record of going a full season unbeaten in the Premier league. However, in my opinion, this City team is not as complete as the Arsenal team that went a whole season unbeaten but the difference could well be Pep Guardiola’s style.
They may not go the whole season unbeaten, but should they continue the way they have started, I fully expect them to achieve more than the Invincibles in terms of titles won. I won’t be surprised if City gets as far as the final of the Champions league and actually win it. They have three years of experience in the Champions league now and Guardiola is quite very experienced when it comes to Champions league.
